FolkStone is a program of PLEA Community Services Society of BC. PLEA is an accredited, community-based organization with a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality, creative services.
FolkStone was developed in 2000 to provide an alternative to institutional or congregate care for adults who could no longer live in their own homes. The program model was based on PLEA’s very successful experience in providing residential care services to young people within family settings. It facilitates a highly individualized approach to meeting each resident’s strengths, needs and circumstances.
Now, FolkStone provides long term residential care services for people with health care needs who require a heightened level of support, medical supervision and specialized services. Although our primary population is adults, we have also provided services to several children who required specialized health care in a family setting.
We provide services for individuals who have a variety of complex personal and medical support needs, including those with acquired brain injuries, dementia, mental health issues, dual diagnosis, developmental disabilities and FASD. They require supported Family Caregiver placements and resources.
Our Family Care Homes are located throughout Vancouver and the BC Lower Mainland. Residents are placed on an ongoing referral basis.
